The Vanguard 3-Star Thumb Turn Door Cylinder is TS007 Kitemarked 3-Star in line with DHF (Door & Hardware Federation) and GGF (Glass & Glazing Federation) requirements.
This door cylinder is compliant with Building Regulations Approved Document Q – Security – Dwellings and it has been awarded Secured by Design (SBD) status, having gained national Police approval for providing a realistic level of resistance to criminal attack.
The anti-manipulation security features include a sacrificial break slot designed to snap off when forced, making it more difficult to gain a grip of the cylinder under attack.
The Vanguard 3-Star Door Cylinder has a high security 6 pin cylinder mechanism and comes with 5 keys as standard. It has been designed to withstand 5 types of attack: Anti-drill, Anti-pick, Anti-bump, Anti-snap, Anti-screw, and plug retraction.

What is a 1 Star, or 3-star product?
TS007 was introduced to increase the security of front entrance doors. Did you know that over 40% of burglaries in England and Wales involve a forced door? Surprisingly the cylinder did not get attacked in any security tests until this standard was written, so in effect, the main component that locks the door was not subjected to any physical or mechanical test.
With the event of burglars snapping and bumping cylinders to gain access easily, BSI introduced a kitemark to increase the level of security regarding cylinders. The Standard TS0007 is aimed at protecting cylinder locks against all known methods of forced entry, including picking, manipulation, bumping, and snapping, and sets out to provide a way to upgrade the cylinder security of your door. Also, any door set is required to reach the 3 Star rating when going for a PAS 24 security door test.
So how do we meet this standard in the joinery industry, 2 ways are the answer, but we feel at SDH there is only one applicable to our (joinery) industry.
Cylinder solutions that have successfully met the requirements of the standard will be marked in accordance with a star rating scheme, with a cumulative total of three stars being necessary to provide complete security. Any cylinders that do not have this, do not meet this rating regardless of any supporting literature.
Option 1: 1 STAR
1 Star Kite Mark cylinder which cannot alone meet the 3 stars required, with this cylinder you have to fit 2-star approved door furniture, such as security handles or a cylinder guard (escutcheon). To achieve the 3 STAR required, a 2 STAR product has to be used in conjunction with this cylinder and has to come with the BSI logo and 2-star rating. The range of finishes and styles of these handles are limited so in turn not pushed into the joinery industry where aesthetics are very important.
Option 2: 3 STAR

How quickly will my order arrive?
Our aim is to dispatch all orders placed before 12 noon on the same day. Any orders placed after that time will be dispatched on the next available working day.
We will send you a notification email when your order has been dispatched. The time your order takes to arrive will depend on the delivery option you choose.
While we always try our best to dispatch every order following the above guidelines, during extremely busy periods dispatch times may increase by up to one day. In addition we will inform you at checkout if delivery may take a little longer due to high demand.
How can I track the status of my order?
You will receive an email to confirm we have received your order and that your payment has been accepted. You will also receive an email when your order has been dispatched.
What days will my order be delivered on?
Our couriers deliver between 07.00 and 18.00 Monday to Friday.
Will I need to sign for my order?
Depending on the size of your parcel and the courier we use, there may be a requirement to sign for your delivery.
Special delivery instructions
If you have any special instructions for delivery, such as leaving your parcel with a neighbour, please include them in the ‘special instructions’ section at the checkout. Please note that our couriers will not respond to notes left on doors for security reasons.

How carefully is my order packaged?
We take great care in packaging your order using the necessary materials according to its weight, size and how fragile it is.
What do I do if my order arrives damaged?
If any item you receive from us arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible on 01752 651330 or by email at email@example.com. We will then advise you on the best course of action. In most cases we will ask you to return the item to us for an exchange or refund.
Unfortunately we cannot refund your postage costs when you return an item to us, unless it is faulty or damaged.
Please do not return a damaged order to us without contacting us first.
All orders are thoroughly checked before leaving our premises. On receipt of your order we request that you check the items as soon as possible. Please have your order number to hand when you contact us as it will allow us to find your order quickly.
If you are unsatisfied with your order in any way, please return it to us within 14 days of delivery for a refund or exchange. The item must be unused, be in its original packaging and be suitable for re-sale. Items bought in the sale are non-returnable and non-refundable. Postage costs for returning items to us cannot be refunded, unless the item is faulty or damaged.
