Part M: Approved Document M Access to and use of Buildings

Approved Document M provides information about the ease of access to, and use of, buildings, including facilities for disabled visitors or occupants, and the ability to move through a building easily, including access to toilets and bathrooms. The part of the regulation that we’d like to draw attention to is wheelchair access to a building. i.e. through a door way, for this we refer to Appendix A Key Terms Accessible Threshold it states; A threshold that is level or, if raised, has a total height of no more than 15mm, a minimum number of up stands and slopes and with any up stands higher than 5mm to be chamfered. So, from this regulation the industry designed Part M Compliant Thresholds for open in and open out doors.
