What are sash window seals?

Sash window seals are weatherproofing strips or materials installed around the edges of sash windows to prevent drafts, air leaks, and moisture ingress. They help improve energy efficiency and maintain a comfortable indoor environment.

What seal type is best for a Sash Window?

Pile seals consist of flexible fibres that create a soft, conforming seal, effective for noise reduction; some also contain a central fin for a tighter seal. Rubber seals offer excellent air and water resistance, durability, and versatility, but they are less flexible and tend to be more expensive. Plastic seals are cost-effective and resistant to moisture and UV exposure, but they may lack the flexibility and longevity of the other options. Foam seals provide good insulation and are easy to install, but they can compress over time, reducing their effectiveness. When choosing a seal, consider your budget, specific conditions, and whether you prioritise flexibility or durability.
